Sado Island, August 19 2010 - Sado Kinzan gold mine. The Sado mine, the largest gold and silver producer in Japan, was discovered in 1542. During its prime in the beginning of the 17th Century, Sado boasted the highest production in the world and supported the finance of the Tokugawa government that continued for 300 years. Automats are used now to reproduce the work in the mine.
