Matagi, traditional hunting
Oguni, Nishiokitama District, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan, February 2 2018 - Ms EBIHARA, 33, one of the first women who could join the formerly male-only Matagi circle and the first huntress in Oguni, wears a traditional bear-made protection to sit on the snow during hunting.
Oguni is home of about 100 Matagi hunters, along with other Northern Japan (Tohoku) regions. Matagi are traditional winter hunters, hunting mainly dear, bear and snow rabbit.
