Tomioka Silk Mill

Tomioka city, Gunma prefecture, March 12 2015 - Tomioka Silk Mill is Japan's oldest modern model silk reeling factory, established in 1872 by the government to introduce modern machine silk reeling from France and spread its technology in Japan. The mill was constructed under the supervision of French Engineer Paul Brunat.
Joshu-Tomioka Station was renovated in 2014 by TNA Architects.
