UPS is setting up an electric vehicle network in London

London, England, UK, September 6 2018 - Portrait of Peter Harris, Director of Sustainability at UPS Europe.
A UPS led consortium with UK Power Networks Services and Cross River Partnership has deployed a new charging technology in London that overcomes the challenge of simultaneously recharging an entire fleet of electric vehicles (EVs) without the need for the expensive upgrade to the power supply grid. The technology, based on the use of onsite energy storage batteries, is now used to provide extra energy needed during peak hours, but it should also allow to increase the number of EVs operating from UPS central London site from the current limit of 65 to all 170 trucks based there.
