Decontamination work in Fukushima
Iitate, Japan, October 19, 2012 - Interim interim storage for contaminated soil in Iitate, around 30km from the site of the March 2011 triple meltdown at the.Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. Residents were evacuated from.the Iitate area as it was significantly contaminated by radiation from.the plant, however, the Government is now attempting to decontaminate.it with a view to allowing residents to return to their businesses, and perhaps their farms and homes in the near future, however, with significant levels of radiation lingering in the soil and forests it.is unclear if this decontamination work will reduce radiation levels.enough to enable evacuated citizens to return.
